334 - I'm Going To Like It Here

We had just finished lunch today when someone came to our door. It was a delightful woman named Carol from the Welcome Wagon. Dude, the Welcome Wagon. She sat with us at our dining room table and told us all about the stuff to do and services available here. Wow. What a fabulous little friendly town.
Thank you Bowmanville for being totally awesome.

332 - Explain This To Me

Because it just blows my mind...

331 - Honey, I'm Home!

Hello my darling Redd-Heads!
Everyone has arrived in Bowmanville safe and sound.
Our house is even bigger than we had originally thought, even with all of our stuff set up. Our main floor managed to have room for Ash's play room, our living room AND a dining room.
Rogers screwed up with our internet so instead of getting it on Saturday we didn't get it until yesterday morning. 4 days without internet is entirely too long.

Since moving here we've been eating at home more often now that we're settled. Last night I made a delicious Thai chicken dish in our brand new Crock-Pot!  And yes, it is a Crock-Pot brand so I don't have to say slow cooker lol.

So far Bowmanville is fabulous. Everyone here is so nice. If you pass someone on the street, they say hello to you. Being from a big city this seems so insanely foreign to me. It's nice.

Anyways, that's all for now. I have to go dig through my studio and try and get it organized so I can re-open the shops.

Also, Unikeys!

I want these SO badly for my new house keys but they don't ship to Canada. FOR SHAME! Canada is awesome and we love stuff too! At my hubby's suggestion I went on over to Ebay to see if anyone had these and someone did! And they ship to Canada! Yippiekayyay! Thanks gardener55!

326 - Leaving on a U-Haul

So I’ve managed to completely forget to tell you guys something really important. We’re moving at the end of the month! And not just a little move across town, we’re packing up and headed for a new town, Bowmanville. My sister and her husband and my four nephews live there, so we’ll have family close by.
We’re going to be moving into a cute little house.

It has a big back yard for Ash to run around in, an extra room for Paul’s office and the coolest basement EVER!

Yes, it does have an awesome fire place and wood panelling for walls! This super awesome basement is going to be my new studio. It will have plenty of light because it’s a walk out into the backyard.
There are two other very important reasons why this house is totally awesome. One, it is just one small walk away from The Bowmanville Zoo. And two? My house can totally eat your house.

322 - Nomtastic Cheesecake Brownies

I'm a bigger girl. I love to eat. While at Craftalicious in November there was a lady who sold cheesecake brownies and I was in heaven. I've been craving them ever since. Well, I found a recipe for them and they are damn tasty. Try a batch and I know you'll agree. I mean, c'mon! Brownies=awesome. Cheesecake=awesome. So it stands to reason that Cheesecake Brownies=NOM NOM NOM!

Ingredients

  • 1 (19.8 ounce) package brownie mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (you can even use light if you're so inclined)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup white sugar

Directions

  1. Prepare the brownie mix as directed by the box. Preheat oven to temperature indicated on box. Grease an 8x8 inch pan.
  2. Spread the brownie batter evenly into the pan. Using an electric mixer, beat together the cream cheese, egg and sugar until smooth. Dollop the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter. Swirl together using a spoon or knife or finger.
  3. Again, listen to the box and bake it for however long it says. I found with mine that the minimum time was just perfect. Brownies will be done when a toothpick or knife or finger inserted comes out clean. Cool in the pan (if you can wait that long), then cut into bars and serve.
  4. Become the envy of everyone you know. These are just so damn good.

320 - Yarn Artists, You Need This!

Are you a knitter or crocheter? Are you tired and winding balls by hand? I know I was! That's why I got my hands on one of these babies!

The Royal Yarn Winder is a fabulous investment! They are a little pricey but they are MORE than worth it. As an example, I just wound a 400g ball of yarn into 5 more easily handled balls of yarn in all of 5 minutes. Okay, so they aren't so much balls as little centre pulled cakes, but they don't roll around and are awesome. You need one.

318 - Redd's Annual Cardigan - Progress

I've been on a hiatus from my cardigan. Not because I wanted to, but because I had to. So far, this December, I've sold 10 Jayne Cobb hats. TEN! So needless to say every waking moment was knitting for customers, leaving no time to knit for me.

Now that I haven't made a hat in a few days (phew!) I decided to take a crack at this sweater again. I'm just about done the second sleeve. Hooray!!

317 - New Year means New Plans

So 2010 is shaping up to be very different than 2009.

I've been brainstorming for new directions for Dame Named Redd Designs. The answer that came to me is The Beautiful Dame. I've always wanted to try my hand at soap and eyeshadow and 2010 I will make my pipe dreams a reality. It's going to be EPIC!
